Before the test begins: I will spend approximately 30 minutes ensuring the applicant and the aircraft are eligible for the test. This is called the "Validation" process. The common errors are in red.
Pilot: I will verify your original Identification, Certificate, Medical and Knowledge Test report. They will be compared against each other and IACRA. Please have these documents laid out for me to view.
Aircraft Series: Please ensure the correct Make/Model/Series is noted at the time of booking and is also noted the same in IACRA. I understand that it has been a practice to only put "CE-172" however, please include the series, such as "CE-172N," if it is known. Amongst other reasons, this helps me verify that all ADs are met for the aircraft being used.
IACRA: All information on IACRA must match your documents, hours fulfilled, and all is correct. Have a paper copy as a back up in case we cannot access IACRA
the doctor's name MUST match exactly in IACRA.
Logbook: This is the longest part of the validation process.
Totals: Ensure your pages are totaled, in pen, and signed.
Tabs: Please tab: cross country solos, tower solos, night cross country and night landings
Full Stops: if a full stop is required, it needs to be noted in the comments section
Regulatory Codes: for IR and CA - both 61 and 141, please put the codes that meet the required experience. It helps validation go faster and there is no question "that" task was met.
Endorsements: Instructors, if you are using the pre-printed endorsements in the logbook, these codes may not align, or no longer exist.
Please reference the most current version of 61.65 and compare that to the current regulatory requirements (FARs) for the certificate.
See the attached flight/ground training record and endorsements under the appropriate Prevalidation sheet under "Scheduling and Prevalidation."
Send me pictures of your student's endorsements so we can ensure they are correct
I do not need full copies of your student's logbook, but the last 3 pages are helpful!
Regarding solo endorsements needed for the checkride, please see "ENDORSEMENTS" below!
Writtten: If the student took their written based on the completion of an online ground school, they must furnish
that certificate AND
as per 61.35(a)(1) an endorsement from an instructor stating that this training was reviewed and received.
Ground/Flight training logged: All required ground training items for all certificates need to be recorded, unless the candidate took an online ground course (Private only). If the candidate took an online ground course, the certificate of completion must be provided.
It is easiest to validate if the required concepts are in a table format, the hours are listed, and the instructor has signed it with their credentials. Tables are included under the Prevalidation sheet. I need these regardless if your candidate is 61 or 141. It removes all doubt as to what was covered, especially if I do not have access to your TCO.
Aircraft: You will need to furnish the current maintenance logbooks. I will be ensuring all required inspections have been completed, are current, and all ADs have been met. INSTRUCTORS: please view this BEFORE sending it to me and BEFORE the checkride.
If I can receive as much of the requested documents ahead of time, we will catch & fix these errors before the day of the checkride.
